James R. Hatter joined the firm as a partner in 2001, after more than twenty years with his own firm, and practices in the area of insurance defense litigation. Mr. Hatter currently represents major carriers and various smaller companies in a variety of insurance matters. His wide breadth of experience allows him to accurately assess potential risk to insurance carriers and their insureds at the early stages of litigation.
Mr. Hatter is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau/Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers’ of America. He is also a member of the Nassau County Bar Association where he served as chairman of the Defendant’s Roundtable, vice chairman of the Supreme Court Committee, and a member of the Insurance Law Committee and Grievance Committee. Mr. Hatter serves as a special court-appointed mediator for the Nassau County Supreme Court, as well as a mediator for the Nassau County Bar Association Grievance Committee. He served as an officer in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969.
Mr. Hatter is admitted to practice in New York State, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District. He is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School.
